GolfBooking | InterGolf - Best Prices & Services After receiving tens of thousands of feedback comments, the R&A and USGA incorporated and finalized the new changes to golf rules in March 2018. Accordingly, new golf rules will be applied on January 1, 2019, with the goal of bringing a positive experience to golfers, helping them focus more on the game instead of worrying too much about the complexity of the rules. Here are the most important changes you need to know. (Part cuối) 21. Do not use the club to guide the shot (Rule 10) style="font-size:16px;">

Previously, you were allowed to place your putter on the green to help guide the ball's trajectory

Now, the new rules no longer allow you to do that

Note: This rule also applies to other tools that can help players do that

22. A caddie is not allowed to help a player adjust his putt (Rule 10)

Previously, players were allowed to receive assistance from their caddie, for example, lining up to adjust their putt line

Now, caddies are no longer allowed to stand behind players and help them adjust their putt direction

Note: This rule mainly affects professional players and is of little concern to the majority of casual players usually.

23. Putting the ball to hit the flag (Rule 13)

Previously, the flag had to be removed from the hole because the ball was not allowed to roll onto the flag when you made a putt.

Now, you are no longer penalized for that, meaning you are always allowed to leave the flag in the hole.

Important: Statistically, it is better to leave the flag in the hole.

24. Ball stuck between flagstick and hole(Rule 13)

Previously, the flag had to be removed in this case for the ball to fall into the hole

Now, the ball will be counted as having fallen into the hole if a portion of the ball is below the hole.

Note: A ball stuck to the flagstick is almost always counted as having fallen into the hole.

25. Distance Measuring Device (Rule 4)

Previously, you were only allowed to use them when explicitly permitted in the rules of play at that venue,

Now, you are always allowed to use them unless the instrument is prohibited by the rules of the venue you are playing at,

Note: This rule change has almost no impact as almost all clubs already allow the use of distance measuring instruments.
