Collin Morikawa wins the PGA Championship

With an excellent final round on the TPC field At Harding Park, Collin Morikawa became the new champion of the PGA Championship Major. Collin Morikawa entered the fourth round two strokes behind leader Dustin Johnson, but he quickly closed the gap after scoring two biridies on holes 3 and 4. Not stopping there, Morikawa truly exploded on the back nine holes in a day where the race for the PGA Championship was incredibly exciting.

The 23-year-old American golfer was the only one among the golfers who had led the leaderboard on Sunday without a bogey. Instead, Morikawa scored a birdie on the 10th hole, a superb chip-in from 54 feet on the 14th hole, and an eagle on the 16th hole after a 1-on-the-green tee shot, thus securing the lead and extending his advantage to two strokes over the runners. With two final Pars, Morikawa finished the final day with a bogey-free 64 (-6) to win the championship with a total score of -13, two strokes ahead of Paul.

This is Collin Morikawa's third PGA Tour title. Winning the PGA Championship on his debut made history as the ninth golfer to win the tournament on his first attempt. He also became the sixth youngest golfer in history to win the Wanamaker Cup at 23 years, 6 months, and 4 days old. In addition to the $1.68 million prize money, he also received lifetime wildcards to participate in the PGA Championship, along with five consecutive years of PGA Tour membership and participation in three tournaments: The Masters, the U.S. Open, and The Open Champion.
