Calculation New HDC 2020 and HDC Index conversion ???

Why must there be HDC?

When golfers meet each other, the introduction or greeting always begins with "how much is your pair?" "how much has your pair gone down lately?", etc. It can be said that a golfer's HDC is a necessary condition to become a golfer, a measure of the golfer's golfing ability, honesty while playing as well as respect for his fellow golfers. Most golfers with low HDC, in addition to playing well, are also more knowledgeable about the rules and customs of golf, thus leading to more disciplined behavior.

Therefore, HDC, also known as handicap, the better player will have to give the worse player a number of strokes, which is the difference between the HDC of the two players. Therefore, the more golfers develop and the more they compete, the greater the need for accurate and reliable HDC.

How to calculate HDC new in 2020?

This is probably the top concern of golfers when the global handicap system is officially applied. The World Handicap system helps all golfers in the world to get and manage their handicaps more easily, thereby making the game fairer and more interesting. When applying the WHS global handicap system, there will be changes to your HDC as follows:

Instead of the old handicap calculation method, a golfer's handicap points only change based on the 10 best results in the last 20 rounds. In addition, the old system of calculating the final score by multiplying 96% will be eliminated.

According to the WHS calculation, only the golfer's best 8 rounds in the last 20 rounds are selected to change the handicap score. This helps to more accurately reflect the golfer's skill level

Guide to getting a World Handicap

If you want to have a new handicap, golfers only need to play 3 rounds of 18 holes or 6 rounds of 9 holes instead of playing 5 rounds of 18 holes like the old system. With this rule, players can shorten the period to get handicap and from there know their golf level.

For new players and those who play less, taking a handicap is absolutely necessary, because currently the maximum handicap is raised to 54 instead of 34.4 for men and 40.4 for women as in the old system. Getting a handicap early helps to make the game fair and makes each round of golf more enjoyable.

In addition, WHS will have fixed "cap" levels for players, so for golfers who suddenly lose form compared to normal, however, this will limit the increase in handicap points.

Equitable Stroke Control – ESC points on World Handicap change no?

The Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) system, which limits the number of points a player cannot exceed when entering a score into the USGA handicap system, is still present in the new WHS system, but with a small adjustment: the maximum score for a hole is now Net Double Bogey.

Instructions on how to update points on the World Handicap system

Previously, golfers updated their handicap scores on the 1st and 15th of each month, but with the global handicap system, golfers update their scores immediately after completing a round.

How is HDC calculated?

1. With the current calculation method (in case there are at least 20 results):

- Step 1: Calculate the adjusted gross score according to the Equitable Stroke Control principle. If the number of strokes on one or more holes exceeds the maximum number of strokes allowed per hole depending on the player's handicap, as shown in Figure 1 below.

/>

- Step 2: Calculate the handicap differential of the 20 most recent results. In which, Handicap Differential = (Adjusted Gross Score – Course Rating) x (113/Slope Rating).

- Step 3: Calculate the average of the 10 best (lowest) handicap differentials in the 20 handicap differentials above. Multiplying the average value by 0.96 will give you the player's Handicap Index.

2. With the new calculation method (in case there are at least 20 results):

- Step 1: Calculate the adjusted gross score.

- Step 3: Calculate the average of the 8 best (lowest) score differentials out of the 20 score differentials above to get the player's Handicap Index.
